We have known for a year now that Toni's left should joint needs to be replaced but in the last several weeks the pain has gotten a lot worse. Last week, we had an appointment with Dr. Moen, a shoulder joint replacement surgeon in Dallas. He opined, just as the other two doctors did, that she needs a new joint. He said that it won't hurt to wait a while so Toni has elected to go on to Colorado for the summer.
If it turns out that the pain becomes unbearable, we will start the process of scheduling her surgery and go home. A telephone call to the W.B. Carrell Clinic will start the ball rolling. It takes about 30 days to get everything in order for the surgery.
May 25, 2016, the pain became much worse so I called the Carrell Clinic and was able to schedule the surgery for Friday, May 27th. The surgery went well and she was able to go home on the following Sunday. Dr. Moen told us that the chances are really good that we will be able to travel to Colorado by about June 26th. He plans to make arrangements with a Colorado doctor for the six week checkup.
